Local artist Agnes Zsigmondi McCraven will host an opening for her exhibit, “Beauty in Pelham”, which will be on exhibit through mid-January in the Ramsdell Room.
Agnes Zsigmondi was born in Budapest Hungary where she attended art school as a pottery major. Later, she became a renown internationally touring and recording musician. She married her husband, the jazz musician Steven McCraven, and immigrated to Amherst via France where her son Makaya McCraven was born.
She graduated with honors as a Music Education Major from the University of Massachusetts and had her daughter Kinga the same year. She went on to earn her master’s degree and taught music at the Amherst-Pelham schools for 25 years. A lifelong artist, she has kept performing, recording and producing visual art throughout the years.
